On the Issues

Public Education

Public Education must become Texas’ highest priority, as a skilled and educated workforce ensures prosperity for our State.

I support the expansion of Medicaid and keeping the provisions offered under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), yet recognizes that Texas current system is not working for all citizens.

Veterans and Military

It is our duty to provide our veterans, service-members, and their families the financial and healthcare resources they need to thrive.

Civil and Human Rights

As Americans, we believe that all people are created equal and have certain unalienable rights. We must ensure that the rights of all people in this nation are protected, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, and physical or mental ability.

Women's Rights

Texas women deserve leaders that will support their right to make their own medical decisions, fight for equal pay for equal work, and protect against gender based discrimination in the healthcare industry.

Social Security & Medicare

Finnigan believes that Medicare should not be privatized or scaled back and that Seniors who have paid their share into FICA should receive their full earned benefit.

Energy & The Environment

Climate change is a fact. Whether the cause is human activity, such as population expansion, or methane emissions, or carbon production should not be the debate. Our climate is changing rapidly and Texas has the opportunity to secure its role as a national leader in the move to a greener and cleaner future.

Improving the infrastructure to HD 94 is crucial to further economic development and community stability.

Immigration and Border Security

Texas is stronger and more vibrant because of our immigrant communities. Texas should provide leadership in developing a comprehensive immigration reform package that includes a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

Criminal Justice

Our criminal justice system is in need of reform. The incarceration of non-violent offenders costs taxpayers millions of dollars and has disproportionately impacted people of color, low-income individuals, and those struggling with mental health diagnoses.

Preserving Democracy

Texans are tired of politics as usual. Every Texan has the right to liberty, justice, and equal treatment under the law, along with the ability to exercise the political power though the right to vote.

Common Sense Gun Legislation

Let me start by assuring you that I have no desire to take away anyone's guns nor to take away the Second Amendment. It is a right that was given to us by our founding fathers and should be respected as such. But it was written at a different time and in a different era.

What I do want to do is protect students and staff in schools, protect citizens from gun violence and make our streets safer. This is why I support stricter background checks for buyers purchasing from individuals or at gun shows and better gun safety training for anyone purchasing a weapon. I also support the banning of bump stocks and assault style weapons as I do not see the need for such a device in the times we live today. Those should be left to military and trained personnel to.

With the recent violence we are witnessing in our schools Texas must do everything possible to keep our citizens safe from the violence plaguing our society right now.
